Shipping, Returns & Alterations Policy

At AfriKuts, most of our items are made to order or tailored to your measurements and preferences. Because of that, our shipping, returns, and alterations process is a little different from a typical retail store.

We aim to keep it simple, fair, and clear.

1) Production and shipping times

Each AfriKuts order is custom-made.

Estimated production and shipping timelines will be shown on the product page, at checkout, or in your order confirmation. These timelines are estimates, not guarantees, unless we explicitly confirm otherwise in writing.

Production begins after:

  • Your order has been placed and paid for, and
  • We have received all required measurements, style selections, and any other information needed to complete your order.

If we are waiting on measurements, confirmations, or responses from you, your timeline may be delayed.

2) Event dates

If your order is for a wedding, party, church event, graduation, or any other date-specific occasion, please share your event date when placing your order.

We will do our best to let you know whether your requested timeline is feasible. However, unless we explicitly confirm a guaranteed ready-by date in writing, all timelines remain estimates.

For time-sensitive events, we strongly recommend ordering as early as possible.

3) Shipping and delivery

We ship to Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other locations where available.

Shipping fees and, where applicable, estimated duties or taxes will be shown at checkout or communicated before payment.

Once your order ships, we will send tracking details where available.

Please note:

  • Delivery times may be affected by courier delays, customs processing, weather, holidays, or other events outside our control
  • Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address
  • AfriKuts is not responsible for delays or losses caused by incorrect shipping details provided by the customer

If a package is refused, unclaimed, or returned because of an incorrect address or failure to receive delivery, any re-shipping costs will be the customer’s responsibility.

4) Cancellations

Because our clothing is custom-made, orders cannot be cancelled once production has started.

You may request a cancellation within 24 hours of placing your order.

If your order is cancelled before production starts, we may issue the following:

  • A full refund, or
  • A refund less any non-recoverable costs already incurred, such as fabric sourcing, design work, or payment processing fees, where applicable

Once production has started, the order is final and cannot be cancelled for a refund.

5) Returns and exchanges

Because most AfriKuts items are custom-made, made-to-order, or personalized, we do not accept returns or exchanges for the following:

  • Change of mind
  • Incorrect preference choices made by the customer
  • Minor colour or pattern variation that can occur with fabrics, screens, photography, or handmade production
  • Orders where the customer provided incorrect measurements
  • Orders that fit differently because of body changes after measurements were submitted

Custom items are generally final sale, except where there is a genuine issue covered under Section 6 below, or where applicable law says otherwise.

6) If there is a problem with your order

If your item arrives with a genuine issue, please contact us within 3 days of delivery at afrikuts@gmail.com.

Please include:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photos or video showing the problem

Examples of issues we may review include:

  • The wrong item was sent
  • The item arrived damaged
  • There is a significant workmanship defect
  • The item materially differs from the confirmed order
  • There is a major fit issue despite accurate measurements being submitted and followed correctly

If we confirm that the issue is due to our error, AfriKuts may, at our discretion, offer an appropriate remedy based on the nature of the issue and what is reasonable in the circumstances. This may include:

  • A contribution toward local alterations, up to an approved amount
  • A remake
  • Store credit
  • A partial refund
  • A full refund
7) Alterations for fit issues

For eligible fit issues, our preferred remedy is to support local alterations in the customer’s city, up to an amount approved by AfriKuts in advance.

If a fit issue is approved and can reasonably be corrected, we may ask the customer to use a local tailor and submit the receipt for reimbursement, up to the pre-approved amount.

Please do not proceed with any alterations until AfriKuts has reviewed the issue and confirmed approval in writing. Alteration costs will only be covered where they have been approved by us in advance.

After reviewing the issue, photos, and order details, we will let you know the next step and the remedy we believe is most appropriate.

8) Non-returnable items

The following items are non-returnable unless faulty, not as confirmed, or otherwise required by law:

  • Custom-made or made-to-measure garments
  • Personalized items
  • Altered items
  • Items that have been worn, washed, damaged, or modified after delivery
  • Items returned without prior contact and approval, where approval is required
9) Customs, duties, and import charges

For international orders, customs duties, VAT, import fees, and similar charges may apply depending on the destination country and shipping method.

Unless we expressly state otherwise at checkout, these charges are the customer’s responsibility.

AfriKuts is not responsible for delays caused by customs clearance.
